Need some books?

Thank goodness you’re here

You can make a difference where you live by becoming a decision-maker. If you don’t feel represented, maybe now’s the time for you to put your hand up for, or get elected to, a decision-making role at a school, club, committee, board, local council, state or federal government.

This practical, encouraging and gently irreverent how-to guide will help you overcome your (understandable) uncertainties, work out whether the decision-making role you’re considering will work for you, and design and manage an election campaign that feels good (even if you’re an introvert). It contains an anatomy of a successful campaign (mine!) at the back, so you can see how each of the ideas can be applied.

Even if you have no interest in being elected, you’ll learn how to use non-creepy relationship-based marketing techniques to talk directly to people who care about things you care about.

“Get elected without losing your soul, your friends or your sense of humour.”

Thank goodness you’re here is available as a delightful paperback book, PDF version or an ePub version you can read on your Kindle of any other e-reader.

I can totally vouch for this book! We need more people to put their hand up for public office and this is just what you need to get started. Highly recommended if you’re thinking of running for local government or supporting someone else who’s giving it a go. 👏👏👍👍

Shooting From The Lip

Shooting From The Lip is a series of short, funny personal essays, poems and snippets of thoughts. In this book I let my mind loose to winnow through, worry about, obsess over, gloss over and double back on any and every topic it fancied. It’s a kind of truth about daily things, cities, love, dogs, hair, dehydration, bodies, people and troubles. It’s funny, poignant, unguarded and sometimes incomplete. It contains some things I felt I could tell you and some things I couldn’t.

... lyrical, intelligent and poignant ...

There is so much in Suzy’s book that I recognise from the small things (my parents wouldn’t buy me plastic jelly shoes either) to the profound. Heartily recommend, especially in these weird times when we all appreciate life insights and being given glimpses beneath the surface.
